A HARD-WORKING single mum has transformed a former bridal shop into her own beauty salon.
Roxanne Tomkinson has opened Sphynx on Upper High Street, Cradley Heath, which offers services including nails, waxing, beauty treatments, eyelash extensions and hairdressing.
The 36-year-old single mum of three boys spent three months, together with the landlord of the unit, completely refurbishing it in a labour of love.
She said the reaction to the new salon has been fantastic.
Roxanne, who lives in Colley Gate, said: "It's absolutely fabulous - the opening was epic - there were people queueing up out the door.
"I've had so much support from clients, family and friends."
Roxanne called the salon Sphynx as she is a self-confessed "crazy cat lady" having eight cats herself. Her brother has a Sphynx cat.
It replaces bridal shop Trescharmante, which was in business at the spot for 25 years.
Roxanne worked in nails, renting space at a salon for the last five and a half years and has been a qualified hairdresser for 19 years, but decided the time was right to take the plunge and set up her own business.
She said: "The salon aims to be welcoming and friendly and non-judgemental.
"I'm alternative and have lots of tattoos and piercings so I can also cater for alternative clients, all tastes are catered for."
Sphynx is open Monday to Saturday from 9am till 6pm. The salon has social media pages.
