PLANS to convert a large Dudley home into a hotel have been given the go-ahead.

The property at 10, Priory Road, will be turned into a bed and breakfast with six rooms for guests after planners at Dudley Council gave the scheme the thumbs up.

A single-storey extension will be built to the north side of the home.

Notes to planners state there will be a member of staff present at all times.

One member of staff will be on site from 7pm till 7am and at least two from 7am till 7pm.

They state the owner lives locally.

They go on to state: "The maximum uninterrupted period a guest can stay will be 4 weeks."

Five parking spaces will be provided to each side of the property and at the front.

Planners said: "Whilst this is still considered to be a shortfall of one space per number of proposed rooms (6 rooms), it is considered that there is access to two dedicated on-street parking spaces immediately outside the application site."

Notes in the application state that CCTV cameras will be installed at the front and rear of the outside of the property.

The application was given the go-ahead with planners saying: "The change of use is considered to be acceptable in principle.

"It is not envisaged that the new use would have an adverse impact upon the amenity of the occupants of the surrounding uses and, given that it occupies a town centre location it is considered that there is sufficient access to the building is available.

"The proposed single-storey side extension is considered acceptable in scale and design and would not have an adverse impact on any neighbouring amenity."

The dwelling is located within the designated Dudley Town Centre boundary and is located within an Area of High Historic Townscape Value.
