A Dudley school has been named as 'good' by Ofsted inspectors.

Kingswinford Academy was given the rating after an ungraded inspection on July 10 and 11.

The Section 8 inspection was carried out as part of the education watchdog's commitment to visiting schools previously rated as 'good' and 'outstanding' to ensure they continue to meet students' needs.

The inspection found that leaders at the school continue to set high standards for students' work and behaviour and offer a broad and ambitious curriculum.

The inspectors also praised the calm and purposeful atmosphere in classrooms and corridors and noted the positive relationships students have with their teachers.

Ian Moreton, headteacher at the school, said: "Our school motto is 'Aspire to Excellence' and I'm incredibly proud that the hard work of our committed staff and students was recognised during the inspection.

"We pride ourselves in being one of the very best schools in the area whilst remaining very much at the heart of our community.

"We're looking forward to building on the strong foundations laid out in the report as we continue to ensure that we unlock all students' academic and personal potential."

Dr Dan Owen, director of education at Windsor Academy Trust, said: "I am proud that Kingswinford Academy continues to be a 'Good' school and sets such high standards.

"The school's ethos of high aspiration and excellence is fully embedded in every aspect of school life and children receive a first class education."

Dawn Haywood, CEO at the trust, said: "This report recognises the school's continued commitment to excellence and reflects the collective strength of our family of schools who work collaboratively to unlock the academic and personal potential of all our young people.

"I could not be more proud of our leaders, staff and students at the school."
