POLICE are appealing for dash cam footage of a distinctive VW Golf R which was in a crash involving young children.

The white car with a black panoramic roof and tinted windows is believed to have travelled through Dudley and Sedgley areas before it crashed with a van and a BMW near a railway bridge on Manor Road.

The crash, just after 11am on Saturday (October 12), caused delays to train services after signals were affected.

A 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Now police are appealing for motorists who may have been in the Dudley or Sedgley areas for dash cam footage.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Do you have dash cam footage or CCTV of the new shape white VW Golf R in the Dudley, Sedgley or Wolverhampton areas prior to the collision?

"It is very distinctive with a black panoramic roof and tinted windows.

"The collision involved very young children.

"Please help if you can."

Four people were taken to hospital after the crash in Ettingshall.

The Golf had earlier been pursued after failing to stop for officers.

The collision led to a fire and officers managed to help the occupants of the BMW from their vehicle.

A woman and two young children were taken to hospital for further assessment and have now been discharged.

The 23-year-old who was arrested was also taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged and bailed pending further enquiries.

The police spokesperson said: "We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have footage of the incident, specifically of the white new shape VW Golf R prior to the collision.

"You can do this via Live Chat on our website or call 101 quoting log 1583 of 12 October."
