FILM and TV stars Cillian Murphy and Stephen Graham have been spotted around the West Midlands, as production crews are in town filming the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie.

Parking suspensions were in place across several roads in Birmingham from October 20 until October 22 as Oblik Productions Ltd, the company behind the production, were filming in the area.

Eagle-eyed fans were able to catch a glimpse of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby on set, donning his character’s trademark flat cap.

Highly acclaimed actor, Stephen Graham was also spotted on set, filming scenes on a narrowboat outside the Tap and Spile pub on Gas Street Basin, Birmingham on Monday night.

Graham is among the star-studded cast who are joining the production, alongside Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.

The 51-year-old played Scouse docker and unionman Hayden Stagg in the final series of Peaky Blinders, but it has not been confirmed if he is returning in the same role.

This film, titled ‘The Immortal Man,’ will follow on from the smash hit BBC series, which ran from 2013-2022.

It is expected to pick up the Shelby family’s fortunes a few years on from where the TV series left off, being set during the Second World War.

Student and Peaky Blinders fan, Hayley Morris, 19, said: “The film crews have tried to keep it all hush hush but we all knew it was for Peaky Blinders.

“I’m so excited for the movie and hopefully we’ll get a glimpse of Cillian. It’s brilliant they are filming lots of it in Birmingham, as that’s where it’s all set.

“It can only be a good thing for the city. Peaky Blinders already brings us loads of tourists but now we have Hollywood here, it’s amazing.”

Birmingham City Centre is not the only place where film crews seem to have been spotted.

People took to social media to share snaps of film crews at Bumble Hole, Netherton where it has been widely speculated filming for the movie also took place last weekend.

A release date for the movie has not yet been confirmed, with fans across the West Midlands and beyond excited for the Shelby family’s return to our screens.
