THE ambulance service has released a statement into a crash which killed a woman in her 40s and left a girl seriously injured at the weekend.
Medics race to the scene of the crash on the A456 Hagley Causeway between Hagley and Halesowen on Saturday (October 19) at around 1.12pm.
Nothing could be done to save the driver of an Audi, a woman in her 40s, who was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
A passenger in the car, a girl, sustained serious injuries and was given trauma care at the scene before being rushed by ambulance to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Another girl who was in the car sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital for checks.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Three ambulances, HART paramedics, a critical care paramedic, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team responded to the scene.
"Nothing could be done to save the driver of one car, a woman, who was sadly confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.
"A passenger, a girl, from the same car sustained serious injuries and received trauma care on scene by the team before being conveyed on blue lights to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
"A third occupant, a girl, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital for further checks.
"Five other casualties involved in the collision from other vehicles were assessed by ambulance staff but didn’t require hospital treatment and were discharged on scene."
Police have said that two men aged 25 and 27 who were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, have been released on bail.
The crash involved an Audi E-Tron, VW Passat, Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia.
