AS October draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my first four months as your MP—it’s been an exciting and productive time! From Westminster to Dudley, I've been working hard, speaking to fellow MPs, businesses, and residents alike.
My top priority is, and always will be, to be the voice Dudley needs and deserves. I am deeply committed to delivering real, meaningful change for our community. That’s why I am raising my voice in Parliament, ensuring our concerns are heard loud and clear, and fighting hard on local issues that matter most to you: keeping Sycamore Adventure Centre open and to keeping on-street parking free for an hour.
SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) services have been struggling nationwide, and now Dudley’s Sycamore Adventure Centre is at risk of closure. For years, Sycamore Adventure Centre has been a safe haven for children, offering inclusive play sessions designed to meet their unique needs. But Sycamore is much more than just a play centre—it’s a lifeline for families. I’m fighting to keep it open.
Parking charges across Dudley are affecting everyone. Some people are visiting town less, and others have even cancelled leisure centre memberships. I’ve been raising these concerns with the council and in Parliament. I’m pushing to keep on-street parking free for an hour.
I'm honoured to have been elected to the Business and Trade Committee, where I’m advocating for Dudley businesses. Recently, I spoke on the new counter-terrorism law and its potential impact on 2,000 businesses, emphasizing the support they’ll need.
I’m also committed to celebrating our healthcare heroes. For Allied Health Professions (AHP) Day, I highlighted the incredible work of AHPs who are vital to our NHS.
I’d also like to personally invite you to a special event, ‘Meet Your MP: Christmas Coffee Morning,’ hosted by Dudley College on Saturday from 11am to 12.30 pm on December 7. This is a great opportunity to meet face-to-face, discuss any issues, or simply learn more about my work as your MP and how I can support you.
