ONE of the driving forces behind the creation of Stourbridge Glass Museum has been awarded the prestigious High Sheriff's award.
Lynn Boleyn MBE has been awarded the honour in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the community.
Community champion Lynn first rose to local prominence when as a school governor she battled to save Maidensbridge Primary School in Wall Heath in 2005-2006, a campaign that resulted in her becoming a local councillor for Kingswinford North and Wall Heath on Dudley Council.
She also played a big part in steering Wall Heath junior football club Kewford Eagles to success and was awarded the MBE in 2015 for services to the community.
In addition, she has been a key figure behind the long-running campaign to create Stourbridge Glass Museum which has enjoyed a successful first 18 months since being officially opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester in April 2023.
In honour of all she has achieved the High Sheriff of the West Midlands Douglas Wright MBE DL, who was appointed by the King and serves as the representative of the Crown in the county, has put her forward for a High Sheriff’s Award which recognises outstanding work by dedicated individuals and community groups within the county.
Alexander Goodger, manager at Stourbridge Glass Museum, said: “I think this is a good opportunity to give thanks to Lynn for going above and beyond on a regular basis- she has been a key driving force of the whole development of the museum from being a mere concept to Stourbridge's number one visitor attraction.
“Congratulations! Lynn's new nickname will be "the Sheriff" henceforth.”
Lynn will receive her award on December 4 at a ceremony in Sutton Coldfield.
She said: “Every year the High Sheriff makes a number of personal awards to recognise and celebrate the work of individuals within the county who have made outstanding contributions to the communities in which they live or work and so I am highly honoured to have been nominated for this prestigious award and very much look forward to receiving this at the awards ceremony in Sutton Coldfield on December 4 and meeting with the other recipients.”
