A MAN was subjected to an “horrific ordeal” that saw him physically assaulted, burned with a lighter and forced to take off his clothes whilst being robbed by attackers in Birmingham.
A man in his twenties was walking down Lozells Road, Birmingham on September 16 last year when he was forced against a wall and threatened by a group of men.
His attackers threatened to shoot and stab him if he attempted to run away, hit him over the head with a glass bottle, burned his skin and forced him to strip before pushing him to the floor where they stamped and kicked him.
The brutal assault was filmed and published on social media by the attackers with the aim of humiliating the victim.
However, it was the social media video that led West Midlands Police to the culprits.
Five men from various locations across the West Midlands have been jailed for the attack after all previously trying to deny their involvement.
Zeshan Hussain, 23, from Roway Lane, Oldbury, was jailed for five years for robbery last week on October 25.
Four other men were jailed in August for their roles in the attack.
Mohammed Hamza Miah, 23, of Frank Fisher Way, West Bromwich, was jailed for six-and-a-half years for robbery
Saleh Ahmed, 23, of Lozells Road, Birmingham, Nadir Mohammed, 23, of Pershore Road, Birmingham and Roman Ahmed, 24, of Northleigh Road, Birmingham were all jailed for five and a half years for attempted wounding.
West Midlands Police said Miah and Hussain were the pair who initiated the robbery by approaching and grabbing the victim as he was walking before Roman Ahmed, Mohammed and Saleh Ahmed joined in and assaulted the victim as his pockets were searched.
In response to the fifth attacker’s recent conviction, DC Naomi Guzder, from West Midlands Police robbery team, said: "This was a savage attack with the group prepared to use violence and then try to humiliate their victim.
"This backfired on them and they have all lost their freedom for a number of years."
