TRIBUTES have been paid to a 17-year-old boy stabbed to death in Solihull last week.

The boy was named in a fundraiser as Reuben. The Go-Fund-Me has so far raised more than £2,000 to support the teenager’s family and help towards the costs of his funeral.

Set up by ‘A Common Bond’, an organisation founded by Reuben’s mum, the Go-Fund-Me has broken its target in just four days.

In a statement, the organisation said: “We know [Reuben’s mum] spends her time working to support others and we would like to offer that support back to help with time off work, her other children and towards funeral costs.

“Please help us to support her after such a tragic loss.”

Reuben died on October 29 after being stabbed on Station Road, Marston Green.

West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation and have charged a 15-year-old boy with murder and possession of a knife.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged on November 3 and is due to appear in Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, from West Midlands Police’s homicide team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the 17-year-old boy who died on Tuesday.

“We are working around the clock to establish what happened and why.

“This is a significant development in our investigation and I want to thank those that have already come forward.

“I’m still appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.”

The investigation continues and West Midlands Police are urging anyone with information to contact them via their live chat on their website or by calling 101 and quoting log 4239, 29.10.2024.
