AN annual duck race staged at The Waterfront to raise money for The Mary Stevens Hospice has been hailed a huge success which raised almost £20,000.

The event was held in June as part of this year's Black Country Day celebrations and saw the hospice partner with Parcap+, the new owners of The Waterfront, Brierley Hill, to race more than 2,000 ducks along the canal.

Also featuring stalls, entertainment and food from Digbeth Dining Club, the fun-filled fundraiser saw more than £19,000 raised for the Oldswinford based hospice, it has now been confirmed.

Satnam Parwana, chairperson of Parcap +, said: “We are very proud to have played a part in what the charity has achieved in 2024 and look forward to supporting them again in 2025”.

James Totney, spokesperson and deputy head of fundraising at the hospice, thanked sponsors and supporters and “everyone at The Waterfront whose dedication to the event’s success ensures vital care can continue”.
