BIRMINGHAM'S Frankfurt Christmas market has been named as one of the most Instagram-worthy in all of Europe.

A study conducted by fashion retailer FatFace crowned Edinburgh the “most Instagrammable” Christmas market in Europe, with festive markets in Strasbourg and Vienna rounding out the top three.

Birmingham came in fourth, with its German market being mentioned in over 21,000 hashtags on the social media site Instagram.

Only three cities in the UK made the top ten, with the third being London in eighth place.

This year, the Birmingham Christmas markets opened earlier than ever on November 1, giving people more than seven weeks to enjoy the festivities.

It boasts 60 stalls selling everything from delicious German-inspired food, including the iconic bratwursts, to traditional handmade gifts, toys and jewellery.

It is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany and Austria and attracts a whopping 5.5 million visitors each festive period.

FatFace’s study found that UK searches for ‘Christmas markets’ have increased by 359 per cent compared to last quarter, with 57,000 searches in the past month alone, showing that people are more eager than ever to step into Christmas!

Pinterest searches have also been rising for ‘Christmas market outfit’ and are up 100 per cent compared to last month which is 8 per cent higher than last year.

This is not the first accolade the popular German markets have garnered this year.
