Two Black Country health professionals have been recognised at an awards ceremony.

Helen McCarthy and Fiona Henderson, both allied health professionals at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, were celebrated at the recent Black Country Integrated Care System Allied Health Professional recognition event.

Ms McCarthy, a member of the Intensive Support Team for mental health and autism, was named Allied Health Professional (AHP) of the Year.

She has worked for the trust for several years and was nominated for her contributions to the AHP field and her commitment to supporting people with neurodiverse needs.

She has led several impactful projects, including the sensory ward initiative, which has improved the experience of neurodiverse individuals accessing mental health and learning disability services.

Ms Henderson, who works in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, received the award for Innovation and Improvement.

She has played a key role in the Hospital Rooms project, which allowed young people from the Sandwell Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service to transform the waiting area at the Lodge Road site with creative art installations.

Tracey Shilvock, lead allied health professional at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Helen and Fiona truly embody the essence of being an Allied Health Professional.

"They are invaluable assets to the trust and their recognition is thoroughly deserved."
