A man has been arrested after a woman was struck by car in Gornal and was left with 'potentially serious injuries.'

The victim suffered a leg injury in the incident which took place on Central Drive just after 6pm on Wednesday (November 13).

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and has since been released on bail as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We arrested a 25-year-old man after a woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle.

"We were called to Central Drive, Lower Gornal, shortly after 6pm on 13 November.

"A woman was taken to hospital with a leg injury.

"A 25-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of wounding.

"He has since been bailed with strict conditions as we continue with our inquiries."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman was taken to hospital on blue lights. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called just after 6pm on Wednesday to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Central Drive, Gornalwood in Dudley.

"One ambulance and the WMAS Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a woman who was the pedestrian.

"She was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries.

"She was conveyed to hospital under emergency blue light conditions for further assessment."
