WITH snow blanketing the West Midlands again overnight, many councils in the area have deployed their army of gritters to help ensure that the roads remain safe to use.
Dudley Council and Birmingham City Council have all confirmed their gritters have been out on major routes over the past 24 hours and will continue to grit roads to combat the ice.
Wolverhampton Council, Sandwell Council and Walsall Council have also said their gritters have been out and about – putting a smile on residents' faces whilst melting the ice.
Residents in Sandwell may have seen Dame Julie Salters making the rounds, possibly spotting The Greatest Snow Van as well.
Melt-on John, Spread Zeppelin and Rule Gritannia have also been put to work across the borough, spreading salt rather than musical melodies.
Let’s hope Ctrl+Salt+Delete didn’t have any technical difficulties during its runs!
Our gritting crew were out last night and again at 5am this morning

Please take care as there is still settled snow and ice patches in some areas
Grit needs traffic to grind it up and melt ice, and is less effective at the very low roadside temperatures we've seen overnight pic.twitter.com/EF3zEaV5jp
Walsall Council also have an iconic fleet of gritters out severing its residents, with Selena Snowmez putting on a stellar performance across the borough's roads.
The snow and ice stands no chance against Thaws Hammer or the magical powers of Grittendor either.
Noddy Colder may have been spotted on the streets of Wolverhampton, as well as 'Out of the Darkness Cometh No Ice' - a wintery play on the City's motto.
There's also arguably nothing more Black Country than seeing a gritter called 'Ta ra a grit' making its way down the road!
Whilst the public giggle at their humorous names, gritters do serve an important purpose making sure roads remain open and safe to use.
To check the routes in your area that have been gritted (or for a chance to see the likes of Walsall’s Gritzilla in the flesh), check your local council's website.
