An annual charity event raised more than £17,000 for a dementia appeal.

The Dudley Group NHS Charity raised £17,570 for the dementia appeal at its annual Glitter Ball.

The event was held on Thursday (November 14) at the Copthorne Hotel in Dudley.

The funds raised will be used to buy Mobii interactive magic tables for patients with dementia at Russells Hall Hospital.

These tables are portable systems designed to project images, games, and photos on walls, floors, and bedside tables.

Altera Digital Health, Mitie, Summit Healthcare, How to Find a Care Home, and Dudley College of Technology sponsored the event.

Rachael Fox, executive vice president for Altera Digital Health, said: "I’m really honoured to be a sponsor of this event and work with The Dudley Group NHS Charity.

"It’s really important that we give something back not just to Dudley but to the patients and the local community.

"As a sponsor and a supplier of The Dudley Group with the electronic patient record, it’s so important for us to sponsor something like this and we’re really proud to be a part of it."

The guests were treated to welcome drinks, a two-course meal, and music from a DJ.

The Trust’s chief executive, Diane Wake, and specialist doctor in dementia care, Russell Taylor, also addressed the attendees.

Three sisters shared their heartfelt story of caring for their father with dementia.

Head of fundraising for the charity, Nithee Patel, said: "This is the fourth year we’ve hosted the Glitter Ball, and this year has been the most impactful yet.

"Dementia touches so many lives and being able to shine a spotlight on the condition during the evening has helped us raise almost £18,000 for the appeal.

"We are truly grateful to everyone who contributed to this amazing achievement."

Other businesses that attended included West Bromwich Building Society, Waldron Solicitors, Bridgewater Home Care, and Thomas Dudley.

Diane Wake, chief executive for The Dudley Group, added: "The support we received at the Glitter Ball is nothing short of inspiring.

"Thanks to our sponsors and supporters we can make a meaningful impact on dementia care within our Trust."
