A MAN who was shot dead in Birmingham has been named as Raad Asmael.
West Midlands Police were called to Rotton Park Road near the junction of City Road in Edgbaston shortly before 11pm on Friday, November 22, following reports that two people had been shot.
Raad was found in a car near the junction and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man in his 30s was found injured at a nearby bus stop and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The family of the 27-year-old have paid tribute to him, saying: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to him we shall return.
“Our beloved husband, son, father and brother.”
West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation which is still ongoing.
Police had arrested a man in his 30s but he was released from the investigation yesterday, November 24.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Harrison, from West Midlands Police’s Homicide team, said: "Our thoughts are with Raad’s family at this incredibly difficult time and we are doing everything we can to understand exactly what happened.
“The shooting took place near the busy junction with City Road, and it may be that you have information which can help our investigation progress.
"If so, please get in touch urgently.”
West Midlands Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have dashcam or mobile phone footage from the time of the incident to contact them by calling 101 or Live Chat, quoting log 5228 of 22 November, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
They have also set up an online portal where members of the public can upload dashcam or mobile phone footage.
