A MASKED man attacked a member of staff in a shop in Walsall as he attempted to rob it.
West Midlands Police said the man, who was armed, entered the Spend & Save Store on Wolverhampton Street, Darlaston shortly before 06.00 am this morning, November 29.
After demanding money from a shop worker, the man then attacked the staff member, hitting him over the head with the handle of a knife multiple times before fleeing the scene.
The man left empty handed.
Police are investigating the incident and have said the attacker is believed to have fled in the direction of Heathfield Lane.
In a statement, the force said: “We understand the attacker fled in the direction of Heathfield Lane and we're now reviewing CCTV in the area to identify who was involved.
“From the initial description it's understood he is white and was wearing black trousers and a black hoodie.”
