A woman has launched a book about her lifelong experience with type one diabetes.
Yvonne Warner, from Dudley, was diagnosed with the condition more than 50 years ago.
She has now written a book about her experiences called 'My Forever Best Friend'.
Around 120 people attended the launch event at her home, including the mayor of Dudley, Councillor Hilary Bills.
Warner said: "I was quite overwhelmed by the number of people who attended the launch.
“They included family, friends, medical, nursing staff and NHS work colleagues.”
She hopes the book will inspire others with the condition to realise it will not stop them from achieving whatever they want in life.
Ms Warner said: "It is extremely difficult but you can do it.
"I want to show that if you have this condition, it does not have to limit your capacity for joy and happiness if you look after yourself and work with it and treat it as your best friend."
Ms Warner said all her royalties will go to Diabetes UK and Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
The charities are involved in diabetes research and provide information about the condition.
At the launch, Ms Warner displayed memorabilia charting her journey with diabetes from metal hypodermic needles and glass syringes to the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system she now uses.
Ms Warner said: "Several people at the launch said how much they had increased their understanding of the lives of people living with the condition and how now they would have a greater understanding of their staff or colleagues’ needs in the workplace."
The book is available to buy in hardback, paperback or Kindle format through Amazon.
Ms Warner will be discussing her book on BBC Radio West Midlands at 11.40am on Tuesday (November 26).
