BUSY Dudley Town will be hoping to address their away form which seems to be hampering their hopes of a promotion challenge in the West Midlands Premier League.

Town produced another good performance at The Dell on Saturday to beat fourth placed Heath Town Rangers 4-1 with two goals from Jamie Oliver and strikes from Jake Morgan and Matt Marsh.

But the results on the road are worrying joint manager Ian Rowe after Dudley lost 3-1 at Goodrich last Tuesday in a game they were expected to win.

Morgan was again on target, and the Robins then went on to lose 2-1 at Wednesfield in the JW Hunt Cup, although they can get revenge tonight (Wednesday) when they host the same team in the Walsall Senior Cup (7.45pm).

Town then ‘travel’ to Lye Town on Saturday in a game expected to be played at The Dell because of their opponents’ floodlight troubles, before going to Shawbury in the league next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Rowe said: “We are playing some good stuff at home and it was an excellent result against Heath Town but we don’t seem to be able to recreate it away from home.

“Obviously we’re going to have to do something about it if we want to challenge and be up there.

“It is not always a settled side which doesn’t help because we are using the squad and youth team players to cope with the amount of games we have at the moment.

“That is again the case over the next few weeks but we’d rather be playing football than sitting idle.

“The local derby with Lye will be one to look forward to and the game at Shawbury will test us, because they are a good side who maybe haven’t had the best of starts but are stabilisng now.”

Rowe paid tribute to Jame Oliver, who rejoined Dudley after a few years away from the game and said his contribution since he returned had been immense.

He said: “Jamie’s fitness levels have been excellent since he returned and he got two goals from a full back position against Heath Town so I am very pleased with his contribution.”
