A 34 YEAR-old man is recovering in hospital this morning after being shot in the leg in Pensnett last night.
Police have sealed off the area outside the Poets Corner pub on Pensnett High Street as they continue their investigations after the incident, which occurred around 8.30pm.
It is believed the man sustained the leg injury a short time before. He is currently stable in hospital and his injury is not thought to be life threatening.
Detective Inspector Gary Dring, from the Sandwell and Dudley team of Force CID, said: “We are in the early stages of investigating the incident and have sealed off an area outside the pub for forensic examination.
“Pensnett High Street is a busy road at any time of day and so we are sure there must have been people passing by who may have seen the offender arrive or leave the scene.
“We have no known motive at this stage of enquiries, but we do have reason to believe that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to local residents.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Brierley Hill police station on 0345 113 5000 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
