ANGLERS are reminded the fishing pools at Fens Pool will be closed for three months from next week.
The closure, which will run from Tuesday, March 15 until June 15, helps maintain fish stocks by encouraging breeding and protecting nesting birds.
In the mean time, anglers wanting to fish in the pools during the open season must have an Environment Agency rod licence and a council fishing permit. Environment Agency representatives visit the area regularly, and anyone found fishing without a licence can be fined up to £2,500.
Rod licences are available from the Post Office and fishing permits for Fens Pool can be found at Black Country Tackle in Brockmoor.
For information on angling, contact the senior warden at Fens Pools Nature Reserve, on 01384 812780 or e-mail paul.hancox@dudley.gov.uk
