TWO anglers were threatened and robbed of £2,400 worth of fishing equipment during a bank holiday fishing trip at Fens Pool Nature Reserve.
The robbery took place on Monday, April 25 between 12.05am and 12.30am when two thieves woke the victims, who were asleep in a tent and demanded their equipment and other personal items.
Pc Louise Davis, said: “This was a particularly malicious robbery as the two victims were asleep in their tent, when two offenders approached the tent and unzipped it, shining a torch into the eyes of the victims.
“They were threatened and asked to hand over their mobile phones, camera and fishing equipment”.
The stolen items included three fishing rods with a Mitchell Avocet real; three JRC Defender three pound test rods and three Delkim Bite Alarms and receiver TXL model.
Anglers are being advised to be vigilant when thinking of buying any second hand fishing equipment, as police try and trace the whereabouts of the stolen items.
