A SUPER century from Carl Whyte was not enough to prevent the seconds suffering a nine wicket defeat at Walmley.
After being put into bat, Whyte smacked 105 to help his side amass 216-6, with good support from Alex Hills (40) and Hamza Ahmed (35 not out).
But when Walmley batted it was quickly obvious this was never going to be enough, as the hosts coasted to victory.
The third XI claimed victory in a crunch top-of-the-table clash at Ross-on-Wye.
Ross batted first and made a total of 202 all out in 46 overs, as excellent bowling by Dan Such (2-25), Richard Lloyd (2-40) and Nick Couzens kept a tight grip on the hosts batsmen.
In reply, veteran Alan Neal and Dan Such (44) set Old Hill on the road to victory with an opening partnership of 72 runs.
He was well backed up by Reece Shilvock (34) and Ollie Moseley (59 not out) as the visitors eased their way to victory by five wickets in 43.3 overs to go clear at the top with just three games remaining.
The fourths also enjoyed victory over their Ross opponents at Wassell Grove.
Batting first, Jon Baig Jnr (64) and Izzy Khan (33) put together a century opening partnership as Old Hill’s youngsters scored 215-8 wickets in their 45 overs.
Rain then intervened to hand the visitors a revised target of 186 in 39 overs to obtain a winning draw.
But this always looked beyond them as captain Irshad Ahmed (4-19) and Lewis Javaid (3-25) knocked the visitors over for 148 in 35 overs.
