STOURBRIDGE Social can seal promotion from Division Four with victory at Alveley this Saturday.
Last weekend’s eight wicket win over leaders Tenbury has left them second in the table - 29 points clear of third placed Brintons.
Skipper Richard Milner won the toss and asked the visitors to bat. It proved the right decision as opening bowlers Riaz and Vaqas Ahmed forced Tenbury into mistakes.
The latter took three consecutive wickets and tidy fielding saw the batting side collapse to 63-7 by the halfway point of their innings.
Some defiant lower order hitting gave Tenbury some hope as they reached tripple figures with a final total of 151. Ahmed finishing with figures of 5-49.
It was a target which looked challenging, particularly when Social lost opener Ian Hatton early on.
That brought skipper Milner to the crease and together with Mussadaq he began laying a solid foundation for the innings.
Though his partner eventually went for 20, the visiting bowlers could find no answer to MIlner as he smacked a match-winning, unbeaten 84 to leave his side in sight of their promotion dream.
