A MAN has been charged after a fatal stabbing in Lower Gornal earlier this week.
Nabeel Choudhary, of Hope Street, West Bromwich, was charged last night by West Midlands Police detectives.
It is alleged the 20-year-old attacked 34-year-old Yasir Hussain with a knife at around 9.40pm on Tuesday December 4.
The father-of-four from Nelson in east Lancashire was pronounced dead at the scene in Central Drive.
A post-mortem concluded he died from stab wounds to the back.
Choudhary is set to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court today (Saturday December 8) charged with murder and possession of an imitation firearm with criminal intent.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from West Midlands Police’s Homicide Team, said: "This is such a tragic waste of a life.
”My thoughts remain with the victim’s family who have been kept fully updated with this development."
Three people arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday night have since been released pending further investigation.
A 21-year-old woman who was being held on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been released pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, police continue to appeal for information.
DI Colclough said: "We continue to encourage anyone who has any information which they believe would assist our investigation to get in touch.
"Violent crime has no place in our region and we will continue to work tirelessly with partners and local people to tackle the harm and misery it causes to families, friends and the wider community."
Anyone able to help the investigation should contact officers via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or call 101 anytime.
Alternatively anyone with information can call independent charity Crimestoppers (anonymously) on 0800 555 111.
