A STOURBRIDGE teenager has admitted causing the death of 20-year-old Ellie Underhill who suffered fatal injuries when she fell from the bonnet of a moving car in Dudley.
Ellie, aged 20, was perched on a silver Vauxhall Corsa while she was driven around the car park outside Tesco Extra in Dudley on December 26, 2016.
Driver Luke Hickman, aged 19, was charged with manslaughter following the incident but today admitted a lesser charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The prosecution at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court accepted the plea and the judge allowed the manslaughter charge to lie on file.
Hickman, of Wassell Road, was remanded into custody.
Ross Bingham, aged 21, of Hagley Road, Birmingham, Elly Phillips, aged 19, of Seymour Road, Stourbridge, and Hana Edwards, aged 19, of Grove Road, Stourbridge, admitted conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
All four defendants will be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
Emergency services dashed to the scene and rushed Miss Underhill, from Quarry Bank, to hospital but she died on January 3 from massive head injuries.
Speaking after her death, Miss Underhill’s family described their daughter as a “bubbly, lively girl and the life and soul of everything”
They said they were “totally devastated” by her death and wanted to “find out the truth of what happened that night”.
