UPPER Gornal residents have come together once again to ensure that the 'Upper Gornal in Bloom' scheme continues.
Flower boxes installed at The Arcade Shopping Precinct and once derelict land on Eve Lane are part of a community project
The planters were in need of a spruce up so hardworking residents and Upper Gornal and Woodsetton councillor Adam Aston got to work.
Keiran Casey, resident and chair of the Oval and Tudor Tenants & Residents Association said: "It's great that the scheme is continuing as although this may seem like a small thing, bringing some colour to our shopping precinct really does make a massive difference, and lots of local residents have said it's great to see.
"We all know how difficult this past year has been for everyone in the community and we always hope that projects like getting these flower boxes installed and planted up in full bloom, will be something we can all be positive about and bring some colour to the community throughout the summer.
"As a local resident born and bred, I want the best for our area, so it's great to see everyone come together to support this project.
"As Chair of the TRA, I want to say a big thanks to everyone on the committee for the hard work they do in the community all year round to try and make our area an even better place to live".
The boxes were installed in 2019 and are part of plan to try and bring some all year round colour to the local shopping precinct.
